Travel – I’m trying to finish up some work things tomorrow because I am headed out for two social media conferences next week. I’ll be accompanying and helping my good friend Anissa with travel. She’s in a wheelchair and for some reason I’ve been dreaming of pushing her really fast which isn’t safe because the ground is imperfect and she can hit a bump and lunge forward. She is terrific to be around because she is funny, people walk up to her so I get to meet some new people and she has really good advice to give out.
I’ve just returned from a Board of Trustees meeting over the weekend in Kansas City and there are some exciting things happening. Honestly, for 10 years I’ve waited to hear there are drugs in clinical trials and the time is now. No, it won’t help Gage and Quinnlin, and in fact it will still be a while until doctors treat little ones with drugs only tested on adults but that’s okay. One day, there will be a treatment so kids like mine don’t suffer so much. I’m extremely proud to be affiliated with the PKD Foundation.
Counting – The picture above just documents one of her many recent trips to the doctor. She’s been there a lot lately. This picture shows the nature of her visits, like she’s resigned. It’s kind of sad in a way. A couple of weeks ago Quinnlin was able to take Lilly for a trip to Build-A-Bear Workshop for her first time ever! There’s a post over at their blog about our trip. It’s been a pleasure working with Build-A-Bear sharing Quinnlin’s story and in this one we are sharing about Lilly and her brother’s illness, too. Also? Go see the cute picture of matching bears they picked out. Very cute! Please comment when you visit and thank them for supporting awareness of special needs and accepting differences!
Summer – Our plan of teaching the kids to type is going pretty good. Gage is actually FINALLY placing his hands properly and Quinnlin is up to several words a minute (it was a 1 word per minute when we started a few weeks ago).
Work – Work is busy, but busy good. I have two great new clients and some great old clients. Clients that I wasn’t a good fit for have gone to the wayside, so we’re in a good place. I’m doing a ton of social media consulting right now, as well as implementing a few facets, which is great because my work is never boring. It seems my personal (online, social media, blogging) and professional worlds (marketing, advertising, creative) are colliding and it’s opened up some wonderful opportunities for me professionally. It’s also had a great impact on me personally because I’ve met some incredible people.
