I wanted to do several different posts for these updates, but that clearly isn’t going to happen (see how my posts are few and far between?) so I’m going to brain dump right now. Good with that? Okay, let’s go.
Where I’m at…
- So honored to be asked to blog at one of my favorite safe places for mothers to be. Mama’s Comfort Camp. I wrote about the time I believed I wasn’t the right parent for Gage – Letting go of the lies - when he was suffering the most and while it was hard to write about it, I’m glad I did. Thanks Yael for asking me. I’d met Yael after I read my post about Gage’s suicide at an event a BlogHer last year. She hugged me and said Gage’s life touched her. She’s impacted my life for the better and I’m grateful to have met her. Please check out her blog, especially if you are feeling unsure of yourself as a mother, a woman and especially if you suffer from PDD.
- I’m at Aiming Low…with a few posts actually. I wrote about Quinnlin being eleven, and snuggling with her, which I hope I get to do for a long time. Dinner party coming up? These things happened to me.
- At Support for Special Needs I wrote about getting a night note from Gage’s new teacher but how I’ve been conditioned to hear the negative.
Sponsor of Support for Special Needs... I’m so grateful to Mabel’s Labels for sponsoring February over at the site. I was a purchaser of Mabel’s Labels long before I met the women behind them and am happy they supported our community over at SfSN for February.

Remember my friend J? Back in July several of my readers/followers/friends and family gave her enough money in two days (we ended up raising $1700 for her) because she is in the final stages of fighting to protect herself and her kids from a well-documented (by agencies around her state) abuser.
The abuser’s attorney got a court referree (friend of attorney) involved because of the judge’s backlog of cases (I guess they do this to try to clear some of them or provide reports to judges) and that person recommended that the abuser be allowed UNSUPERVISED visits with the children. To say that she, her attorney and the professionals that spoke for the children against the abuser are shell shocked is an understatement. A few nights ago I spend a couple of hours on the phone with J who was venting about the injustice of having to fight this – again! They feel strongly that if they can prove that the referree pulled out what they wanted to out of larger reports showing that the kids were in danger, that the recommendation for any visits will be thrown out.
J, who very much didn’t want me to and wasn’t asking for money from me was so grateful for the help she recieved from this community and didn’t feel right asking again. So she’s not. I am. She only needed $1200 of the $2800 she owed and after sending an email to just a handful of people who donated before that I know well, we raised $475, bringing down what she owes to $725. And she has until Monday to do it. If there is anything you can spare, I would be grateful and she would be blown away. Leave a comment and I will email you her paypal address to pay directly.
If you can’t spare anything, no problem, what she is asking for is prayers and good thoughts for her kids. She’s asking for strength for herself, because she is worn down fighting this battle. Thank you so much for any help or loving support you can give her.
